The best house training uses the dogs own instincts to avoid soiling its bed to train the dog where and where not to eliminate. Normally housebreaking is the very first thing we train our dogs. Even adult dogs from rescue homes may need to be housebroken, not just puppies. Dogs love routine and what has always worked best for me has been to establish the habit of going outside immediately after their meal and exercising, walking at the same time every day.
